REU Meeting - 2026-07-16

This following is a brief summary of our research meeting on 2026-07-16.

Meeting summary

This was a short meeting, since there was a general summer REU meeting/lunch at 11:30 a.m. We briefly talked about properties of the categorical trace, such as "conjugation invariance" and "additivity." We also discussed some difficulties with the notation and examples in the two papers we've been reading.

Tasks for next meeting

Consider diving into Tannaka duality! To that end:

• Learn about Tannaka duality by skimming through this nLab page
• Explain how Tannaka duality can be viewed as a consequence of the enriched Yoneda lemma (in enriched category theory)
