REU Meeting - 2026-06-29

This following is a brief summary of our research meeting on 2026-06-29.

Meeting summary

We briefly went over solutions to each of the exercises assigned at the last meeting. There were quite a few, so it took basically the entire meeting! We didn't get the last two exercises, so those are still in the mental queue.

Tasks for next meeting

After finishing off Exercises 12 and 13 from Section 18.3, we're going to back up a bit and read Section 18.2 in Dummit & Foote, which is about Wedderburn's theorem and idempotents. We'll then try our hand at the following exercises:

• Section 18.2: 1, 5, 8, 11
